Wind Ensemble Q&A:
How do I be a part of the Wind Ensemble?
- Students enrolled in Wind Ensemble are chosen by the director based on their performance skills, rehearsal etiquette, and musical literacy in the year prior. For that reason, most incoming freshman will be placed in Symphonic Band when registering for classes, unless their schedule will not allow or another exception is approved by the director.
- The Wind Ensemble performs a wider and more challenging range of music. Students in this ensemble are also encouraged to prepare and audition for CBDA All-District Band and other honor bands across the state. Many students will participate in Solo & Ensemble Festival during the spring semester, in order to receive individualized feedback on their playing in a smaller setting.
- You'll be a part of an ensemble that has a reputation for excellence. When you're a musician, there's nothing else like performing with other talented, hard working musicians. Wind Ensemble serves as a relaxing experience, allowing you to perform and get your mind off of other courses and release daily stress.
